I hope all of you are enjoying your holidays as much as we are enjoying ours around here!
We woke up this morning to our first snow in our new house:
Our first tree in our new house and my first real tree:
(Yes, that’s a cheese grater on top. It’s our angel and we love her.)
With both new hand knit ornaments:
And some old favourites:
And delicious Christmas celebrations have included so much gluten-free and vegetarian food that I can eat!!!!!!
I was so impressed with this Glazed Lentil Walnut Apple Loaf (Heather & I made a gluten-free & vegan version using brown rice flour instead of oats, and served it with this gravy):
And I always love this Orange Agave Tempeh that Ash brought (loosely based on this recipe from Meghan).
With a little bit of extra time to myself, I made my first marmalade (with Meyer lemons — blog post coming soon!)
And where there is Christmas in my house, there will also be music. Pem and I stretched my ukulele skills (with my Dad on guitar) and did the “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings” mashup in the style of the Bare Naked Ladies, and my young cousin and I did an a capella version of “Away in a Manger” that I will never forget. There may have also been a rendition of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song.
And to share a little music, Ashley and I performed our favourite duet (Winter Song) a capella for my family, and we got a video of it (hooray for smart phones!):
I hope you enjoy the extra food, love, family, celebration, and peace that happens at this time of year — and maybe some brownies!!!!
Wow – you girls have absolutely lovely voices =)
Sounds like you had a nice holiday! I look forward to seeing a recipe for the gluten-free vegan loaf.
Thanks Kim, it’s been great 🙂
Yes — working on tweaking the loaf a bit more and will post a recipe soon.
Very sweet…apparently I need to listen to this going to bed each night during this special season…thank you for including in your postings. Colleen.
